Portable Air Conditioner

A portable air conditioner is a self-contained unit that cools a room by drawing in warm air, removing heat and moisture, and venting the hot air outside through a hose. It works by using a refrigerant to absorb heat from the air, which is then expelled through the exhaust hose. The cooled air is then circulated back into the room.

1. Air intake: A fan pulls warm air from the room into the unit. 
    
2. Cooling: The air passes over cold evaporator coils containing a refrigerant. The refrigerant absorbs the heat from the air, cooling it down. 
    
3. Dehumidifying: As the warm, moist air cools, the moisture condenses and is collected in a bucket, a gravity drain, or a hose. 
    
4. Heat expulsion: The now-hot refrigerant moves to a compressor and then to condenser coils, where it releases the absorbed heat. 
    
5. Venting: The heat is expelled outdoors through an exhaust hose that is vented out a window. 
    
6. Cool air return: A fan blows the now-cooled, dehumidified air back into the room. 

The 7,000 BTU model is best for smaller rooms and studios; the 9,000 BTU model covers larger bedrooms and small living rooms. Competitor guidance puts similar BTU portable ACs in the 100–400 sq ft range depending on insulation and sun exposure.

In normal cooling mode the unit uses auto-evaporation which greatly reduces the need to drain. For very humid conditions, there is a drain option. This matches the auto-drain/evap features popular among leading portable units.

Use the included universal window venting kit. Attach the exhaust hose to the back of the unit and seal the kit in a window or sliding door per the quick start guide. This is industry standard and simplifies setup.
